Junior Automation QA Engineer

We are looking for a Junior QA Automation Engineer to join assurance efforts across complex, high-impact projects. This role is responsible for developing and executing automated test plans to ensure software quality at every stage of the development lifecycle.
You will collaborate closely with QAs, developers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure that products meet the highest standards of quality.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Automation and tooling: Implement, and maintain automated test frameworks and tooling (e.g. Playwright with Typescript) to enable fast feedback and high-test coverage
- Test planning: Contribute to test planning by defining scope to be automated, identifying appropriate test approaches, and ensuring alignment with business requirements.
- Cross-team collaboration: Work closely with development, product, and operations teams to integrate testing into the software development lifecycle from the earliest stages.
- Quality metrics and reporting: Track, and report on key quality metrics, such as defect rates, test coverage, and performance benchmarks.
- Risk assessment and mitigation: Identify risks in software releases and help to mitigate them proactively.
- Test environment management: Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to ensure test environments are reliable, available, and accurately mirror production environments.
- Problem-solving and debugging: Be involved in efforts to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex quality issues, working closely with developers to ensure smooth resolution.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- Experience of software quality assurance practices, with early experience or training in automated testing.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and report issues effectively.
- Solid grasp of core testing principles such as Boundary Value Analysis (BVA), Equivalence Partitioning (EP), and risk-based testing.
- Experience with UI and API testing using tools such as Playwright, Selenium, or Postman.
- Ability to create clear and concise automated test cases and contribute to the development of test plans and supporting documentation.
- Capable of managing time effectively and working on multiple tasks in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
- Exposure to back-end testing, including APIs and basic database validation using SQL queries.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
